Services

Founded and owned by Jens Bogren, Fascination Street Studios with its 7 engineers and 2 studios in Stockholm and Örebro offer world class Productions, Mixing and Mastering services.

What can we do for you?

We move with the market and offer flexible production packages. Do you want a full production with Jens Bogren, David Castillo or Per Aldeheim, or do you perhaps prefer spending your budget on drum recording and mixing while recording the rest on your own? Get in touch and we’ll help you find the best solution to fit your needs. Both our studios in Stockholm and Örebro offer fully equipped apartments where your band can stay, free of charge!

Prices for recording and full productions are calculated per project.

We have what’s needed to do productions on the highest level. Besides a good selection of amps, cabs, guitars and basses, we have a Tama Star Maple kit with all available sizes and a huge amount of different snare drums. You’ll also find a Hammond M100 with a a Leslie 147 and a Baby Grand Piano. Contact us if you need any specifications prior to recording.

Mixing is the process where your recordings come to life – or not. Sound wise it’s the single most important step of your production. A skilled mixing engineer will take your songs to a new level, providing them with the sound they deserve. Many great bands have experienced what mixing with one of our engineers at Fascination Street Studios can do for their music.

Prices for mixing are calculated per project. Please check out our engineers below, and contact us for a quote.

We accept Pro Tools sessions or consolidated files with zero start. Send them in whatever source format you’ve been using, do not convert the sample rate or bit depth. Make sure you record in 24 bit or higher. It’s a good practice to clean the Pro Tools sessions from hidden or unwanted tracks. And always include a monitor/rough mix! It doesn’t matter how bad it sounds, it’s only there for us to know that the files are in sync and that nothing’s missing.

If your session is a mess in deep need of editing: expect to hear from us. We can offer these services, but normally the mixing engineer won’t do this job for you.

Have you recorded your guitars and bass tracks with Di signals? We’re happy to re-amp them if needed.

Some of our engineers offer online unattended mixing only. If you wanna sit in on a session with Jens or David you’re welcome to do so. Lodging is available. Expect to be dragged on to Jens’ boat for a fishing adventure though. 🙂

Mastering: the final frontier. With a delicate mix between analogue and digital gear, our engineers Tony and Jens will do what’s within and beyond the laws of physics to make your master as clear, loud, wide and proud as possible without destroying your mixes. And does your mix need some help? Well, nothing will beat a good mix, but a lesser mix certainly needs a good mastering.

Mastered For iTunes

Beyond traditional mastering for CD and digital distribution, we are certified by Apple for Mastering For iTunes (MFiT). The master is auditioned through the Apple Music encoder and measures are taken to preserve the original sound. Masters that are made this way will get the “Mastered For iTunes” tag in Apple Music / iTunes.

Vinyl mastering

The vinyl market is growing (thank God!) and we’re happy to offer specific non-clipped and non-limited versions of our masters specifically for vinyl replication. Extra attention is taken to the stereo image and frequency response to meet the limitations of the vinyl format.

Stem mastering

We offer stem mastering on request. This should be seen as a problem solver, and not a standard way of delivering mixes for mastering. Export the mix in stems or instrument groups: e.g. drums, bass, rhythm guitars, lead guitars, keys, vocals. The sum of all stems played back at unity gain (“0” on the fader) should sound as your mix (without any mix bus compression you may have). Always include the stereo mix for reference.

Standard album mastering: €1150

Full album mastering (approx. 33-74 minutes of material) including reasonable revisions. Album sequencing and electronic delivery by DDPi through FTP. The master can be reviewed and reference copies can be made with our custom DDP software (included).

Mastering per track: €150

For non-albums or albums shorter than 33 minutes, e.g. singles, EP’s etc. Electronic wave file delivery.

Options:

  • Mastered for iTunes: €30/track (€220/album)
  • Vinyl mastering: €30/track (€240/album)
  • Stem mastering: €50/song (€390/album)
  • Sequencing and master creation of additional versions: (Ltd, Japan edition etc) €90
  • Sequencing and master creation of EP’s: €75
  • Physical master delivery: quoted on request

Mix feedback: €25/track

Have our experienced ears check your mixes prior to mastering! Only available together with our mastering services. This is a great way to identify problems already during mixing. One or a few tracks off an album is usually enough.

Standard album mastering: €850

Full album mastering (approx. 33-74 minutes of material) including reasonable revisions. Album sequencing and electronic delivery by DDPi through FTP. The master can be reviewed and reference copies can be made with our custom DDP software (included).

  • Please make sure that the files delivered for mastering are free of any master limiters that should not be a part of your mix.
  • Please keep a little headroom in your mixes. Doesn’t have to bee much, but try to avoid clipping.
  • If you have any specific instructions or preferences prior to mastering, please let us know before we begin. It’s a good practice to upload a document along with the files including this info together with track list, final song titles for CD Text and ISRC codes (if you have any).
  • If you deliver instrument group mixdowns (stems), make sure you also deliver a stereo reference mix of your material. You should also verify that the sum of the stems delivered actually sounds like the reference mix.
  • Save us all some time by listening through the mixes before you deliver. It’s not uncommon to come back for a revision because of a missing guitar or an editing mistake during mixing. 🙂
  • We accept wav or aiff-files. Please deliver in the source sample rate, do not covert. The mixes should have a bit depth of 24 bit (or greater). If you deliver stems, please make sure the stems are bounced with the same starting point (zero start).
  • If you wish to attend a mastering session with us, you can usually use the studio accommodation at no extra charge. This is depending on availability, so let us know on that when booking the session.

Facilities

Life’s too short! Let’s make the best out of it. Our studios feature some of the greatest equipment and instruments around, both vintage and new. Enjoy your stay in the artist apartments next to the studios!

Studio 1

The facility in Örebro is a studio mainly for mixing and mastering, even though some recording still takes place here. This is where Jens and Tony are spending most of their time. The studio boasts a custom-made hybrid setup for mixing and mastering that allows all the benefits of the analogue environment but with the recallability of an all-digital setup.

Studio 2

Our studio in Stockholm where David Castillo is running the show is a top of the line modern recording studio with all the bells and whistles. How about an SSL console surrounded by all of the classic outboard gear you can imagine, monitored through Barefoot Sound speakers and the classic NS10’s?

The main recording room is the most important part of this studio though. The lush sound of a great room can’t be simulated!

The fully equipped apartment can house up to six people. It’s located next to the studio and close to the center of Stockholm. Right outside you’ll find restaurants, shops, local amenities and easy access to tram and subway stations. This studio facility is locally marketed as Studio Gröndahl.
